The African Left Networking Forum (ALNEF) firmly denounces the extreme brutality with which the Sudanese government is responding to the legitimate demonstrations of the Sudanese people against the hiking cost of live caused by the austerity measures taken by National Congress, the ruling Party in Sudan.
The ALNEF strongly condemns the killing of more than a hundred of protesters by the Sudanese regime and denounces the arrest of hundreds of peaceful citizens and the suspension of major mass media in the country.
Among the persons arrested and detained, are several members and leaders of the Communist Party of Sudan: Sidik Yusif, Moh. Abdul Monem, Ahmed Ysin, Merghani Attalmannan, Salah Ibrahim Angada, Moh Mukhtar Mahmood, Bashie Moh. Bashir, Nimatt Malick and Moh Al Fatih Al A'alim. This illustrates that the regime in Khartoum has deliberately chosen the path of systematic repression as the only response to the legitimate claims of the people of Sudan in general and those of the working class and the poor in particular. The killings and arrest of peaceful protesters as response to social contestation is simple unacceptable and even suicidal!
The ALNEF requires the cessation of the current spiral of repression against peaceful demonstrators, the immediate release of all the persons in jail and call for the satisfaction of the legitimate demands of the people of Sudan.
The ALNEF expresses its solidarity to the Sudanese people in his legitimate struggle against the Bachir’s dictatorial regime and reaffirms its support to the Communist Party of Sudan as the leading force and vanguard of the current revolutionary movement in Sudan.
